Sleeping At The Cinema
03:08
|
|||
I saw the night fall, I saw the sunrise
And a lot of things of interest in between
Some were sleeping through the stardance
Reenacted true to life on the silver screen
I saw the night fall, I saw the sunrise
And waited rather patiently beside
You were somewhere completely different
As I watched the reels of footage rewind
So what to worry (so what to worry)
What to worry
So what to worry (so what to worry)
What's your hurry
Sixty seconds to the hour
With the crowd all high and edgy in a file
Overlapping nervous chatter
Small talk to kill a minute in high style
Sixty moments caught forever
On a sticky strip of plastic in a can
And you were somewhere completely different
As I watch the reels of footage yet again and again
So what to worry (so what to worry)
What to worry
So what to worry (so what to worry)
What's your hurry
So what to worry (so what to worry)
What to worry
So what to worry (so what to worry)
What's your hurry

Proverbial Credence
02:28
|
|||
Standing at the door I see you smiling with stone faces
Trying to secure your thoughts in vacant empty pages
Leaving notes while waiting coats wait softly as I'm leaving
Troubled shooting ignorant
While I go on believing
Color coated spectacles with eyes so steady gazing
Meeting in the back room while the haze continues hazing
Broken backs discover laughs behind continued grieving
Parading in their party dress
The rest go on believing
Seeing signs inside their minds the lies become reflections
Moving fast through things of past who's answer mocks the question
Waiting still as Jacks and Jills have taken all the feeling
Selling out we watch in doubt
But still go on believing

Child In The Fire
03:46
|
|||
There's a feeling deep inside
Wonder if we'll survive another day
And the sun still seems to shine
But you know it'll never always be that way
And you could try to run and hide
Lay your head right down and close your eyes
As you picture in your mind
As the child in the fire cries
And as we witness devastation
In this one united nation
We'll be safer if we build some more
I've heard it all before
It's an easy thing to say
Things are getting better everyday
But take a look around you
Can't you see the land slowly decay?
It seems that time is running short
Unless we find another master plan
And if you should seem to care
Then we should live in peace here if we can
And as we witness devastation
In this one divided nation
We'll be safer if we build a wall
I've heard it all before

Into The Grey
03:32
|
|||
I can’t pretend to know you anymore
Bodies don’t turn cold so fast
I can’t pretend to feel you anymore
I stripped my nerves down to the bone
The night fades to blue
And you fade to black
And I fade into the grey
I can’t pretend to see you anymore
Memories have turned to stone
I can’t pretend to give you anymore
My heart’s a shirt that’s just been worn
My skin turns to blue
The day turns to black
And I fade into the grey
Like an old photograph
I will melt away
Oh, from your tortured eyes within
Like a dripping sky that’s falling
Through a crater in the sun
Ohhhhhhhh
I can’t pretend to hear you anymore
Shadows scream in vain at night
I can’t pretend to be you anymore
Behind my mask the mirror lies
The curtain falls
And the scene fades to black
And I fade into the grey
I fade into the grey
I fade into the grey
I fade into the grey

Tree Of Fire
02:53
|
|||
Shadow play along the hall
Some chosen few will ask for all
In hushed tones and whispers
Who is there
A tree of fire stands outside
Against the surging summer tide
To feed upon electric
Desert air
Inside confusion blinds the men
Who panic asking once again
What have you come for
Let us know your name
And once again there's no reply
To fill the empty midnight sky
Except the roar and crackle
Of the flame
A tree of fire stands outside
Against the surging summer tide
To feed upon electric
Desert air

Forever...for now
03:31
|
|||
As I sit here I'm surrounded
By the things that I have come to know
The pounding sound of footsteps
Rumble all around from down below
As I wander 'round the town
I slowly realize that I have grown
Enough to reach the treetops
All around there's people I have known
And I see their faces
And they're all too familiar
Many left though some remain
Forever in my mind they stay
Forever in my mind retains
The images so true and plain
I walk along the rippled streets
Never getting near my destination
Close within my reach I grab
I hear the sound of conversation
In the future I can see
The landscape changing under me
As buildings seem to show up overnight
Replacing history
And I see their faces
And they're all too familiar
Many left though some remain
Forever in my mind they stay
Forever in my mind retains
The images so true and plain
